An Excerpt...
LADY MERLE: You’ll hang for this. This is Maid Marian, ward to King Richard. What you have done is treason!
ROBIN: No, M’lady. There is no treason here. Only loyalty to King Richard. Prince John is a traitor. He was to guard & protect England while Richard fought in the Crusades. Yet he has done nothing but plunder it.
ANNABEL: There are other soldiers. They’ll arrest you.
MOTHER MEG: I’m afraid not. The Sheriff’s men are being tied to the trees. ROBIN: Good work.
LADY MERLE: Enough of this foolery! Sheriff, seize him!
MARIAN: Where is the Sheriff?
SHERIFF: (Robin Hood drags him from hiding by the hair.) OW! Oh! OUCH! Easy, please! OW!
ROBIN HOOD: Here is the man who steals from poor widows. Here is the man who taxes townspeople to near starvation. Here is the Sheriff of Nottingham. (Robin gives him a kick & sends him sprawling. All laugh. The Sheriff is furious. )
LADY MERLE: Get up you monkey! Have you no shame?
SHERIFF: You’ll pay for this, you bandit. I make it a vow.
(Mother Meg & Beth pick up a swords belonging to Soldiers #1 & #2 and guards each respectively. Will & Little John put their swords in their belts and advance on the Sheriff)
