We are proud to say that TYA has been “Shining the spotlight on YOUTH for 22 years!” Please shine the spotlight on more kids by contributing to this annual fundraiser to support Theater For Young Audiences’ programming in the theater arts.
This year, TYA will offer up to 50 apprenticeships, leadership, and technical positions for youth. That’s up from twenty-nine in 2009-10 and fifteen in 2008-09!
At TYA, youth take on leadership positions as apprentice stage directors, music directors, accompanists, choreographers, set, lighting, sound, and costume designers. As technicians, they stage manage shows, operate lights & sound and work on run crews. As performers they act, sing, and dance. As craftsmen, they paint, sew, and build. Out front, they sell tickets, usher, and more!
At TYA, youth acquire valuable knowledge, attain practical life skills, develop friendships, challenge their creativity, and cultivate a strong work ethic while working side by side with trained professionals and knowledgeable volunteers in the theater arts.
