GREY AREA PLAYERS

Grey Area Players, a brand new theatre troop, comprised of current students and graduates of North High School, is proud to debut a night of two short plays. The program features a light comedy (The Spotted Man, by Walter Wykes) and a dark comedy (2005 Tony Award Nominee for Best Play, The Pillowman, by Martin McDonagh).

WHO’s WHO?
Three of the cast members will continue working toward their BFAs in theatre this fall.  Blake Henderson and Tricia Lutze at Milliken University in Illinois and Aristotle Leonard at Stevens Point, Wisconsin.  Other past/present North students include Kyle Whelton, Alea Erickson and Jeffrey Boldt.   These young performers wanted the opportunity to give back to the community, so the production is a fund raiser for TYA (Theater for Young Audiences).  Playwright Walter Wykes waived his royalty fees as a contribution.

The show is staged as a black box presentation offering performers the opportunity to work in an experimental type space.  The plays are directed by Pat Henderson (Set Designer North High School).  Performers and parents have contributed to the set construction, costumes, lighting and multimedia.

SHOWTIMES & TICKET INFO
Performances will be Thursday, August 12th and Friday, August 13th at North High School Auditorium.  Doors open at 6:30 and performances starts at 7:00 pm.  Cost is $5.00 per ticket and tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 920-208-7492.  As a black box, there is a maximum capacity of 75 seats per performance. Any unsold tickets will be available at the door at 6:30 each evening.

FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY
The production contains edgier material and is for mature audiences.  Recommended age is 16+ (under 14 will not be admitted). In The Pillowman, a writer in a totalitarian country has been dragged in for questioning and probable torture by the police. The writer’s stories depict children who are horribly murdered and these stories (both published and unpublished) are being reenacted. But are they being reenacted or do the police want an excuse to destroy the writer’s artistic work because it offends? Twist and turns abound in this surprisingly funny dark comedy.   In the spirit of the Theatre of the Absurd, The Spotted Man depicts a mere mortal man who is cursed with a seemingly innocent disease which may destroy the entire human race in this funny, farcical “tragic-comedy."
